In a shocking move, the United States Army is pulling its advertising from the Rush Limbaugh Show after his unwarranted and vicious verbal assault against Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke. He called her a “slut” and a “prostitute” for her congressional testimony on behalf of contraceptive coverage within health insurance coverage. So far 141 groups have withdrawn or are planning to end advertising on the Limbaugh Show.

Radio-Info.com reported on Friday that 98 advertisers will avoid advertising on Limbaugh’s show and other programs with content “deemed to be offensive or controversial.” That’s most, if not all, right wing radio shows, but that could also include a few on the left, perhaps the Randi Rhodes Show.

The list includes car manufacturers (Ford, GM, Toyota), insurance companies (Allstate, Geico, Prudential, State Farm) and restaurants (McDonald’s, Subway).

The advertisers were reportedly included in a Premiere memo circulated to radio station traffic managers and obtained by Radio-Info.com, laying out the growing reach of the advertiser exodus, which has now ensnared other controversial radio hosts:

They’ve specifically asked that you schedule their commercials in dayparts or programs free of content that you know are deemed to be offensive or controversial (for example, Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh, Tom Leykis, Michael Savage, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity). Those are defined as environments likely to stir negative sentiment from a very small percentage of the listening public.

Advertisers have dropped their ads from Limbaugh’s show in the wake of his misogynistic attacks on Sandra Fluke. The online feed at WABC, Limbaugh’s flagship station, has increasingly turned to free public service announcements during Limbaugh’s show.

Yesterday, listeners to the Rush Limbaugh show got to listen to five minutes of silence in place of where advertisers once provided joyful messages of the wonders of their products. Over fifty advertisers have left the Limbaugh show since he wrongfully called law student Sandra Fluke a “slut” and a “prostitute” for providing testimony to congress on the need for contraceptive coverage in health insurance.

President Obama said today that decent people don’t call women sluts. He was referring to one of the two principal proganda organs of the Republican Party, Rush Limbaugh. That’s what Limbaugh had called law student Sandra Fluke. He also called her a “prostitute.”
