Tumors began growing in these rat after three months of being fed GMO foods.

One thing I’ve noticed over the years; both the conservative and liberal corporate press like to deceive us. The Wall Street Journal and the New York Times are both good at this. Neither will mention certain things that might offend members of the leisure class or the management of corporate advertisers. GMO’s are a perfect example.

The blue line represents GMO crop yields and the yellow line represents traditionally planted crop yields.

There are plenty of peer reviewed studies in academic journals that demonstrate the health hazards of genetically modified foods (GMOs), and neither newspaper dares to mention any of them. But these media outlets will mention studies done by the GMO corporations purporting to show GMOs are safe for human consumption. That’s to keep us ignorant, and to keep those advertising dollars coming in.

The Times recently ran a story about how the yields of GMO crops are about the same as traditionally planted crops. There’s virtually no “discernible difference in yields,” according to the story, unless you go to the Times online. Then you discover that GMO crop yields are largely inferior (and by wide margins in most cases) to traditionally planted crops, but the editors didn’t want us to know what was right before our eyes.

Maize crop yields. Blue line = GMO yields; yellow line = non-GMO crop yields.

You can see in the graph above that traditionally planted rapeseed yield is far superior to GMO yields. Vegetable oils are produced via rapeseed. The yield for corn is the same between GMO and traditionally planted crops. You can also see from the graph furthest below that the yield for non-GMO planted sugar beets is far greater than GMO sugar beet yields.

Sugar beet production. Traditionally planted sugar beets have superior crop yields compared to GMO sugar beets.

In other words, the corporate media and the GMO industry have been lying to us for decades, and they still are. The graphs in this story are taken straight from the New York Times, but you had to go online to get them. Given this, it is obvious there is no rational reason for GMOs to be in the human food chain since they are largely inefficient or equal in yields compared to traditionally planted crops.

According to Global News, the U.S. agrichemical lobby has targeted 14 year old Rachel Parent, a Canadian teenager as part of its “increasingly nasty and divisive public relations war over GMOs.

Rachel Parent was 14 years old when her activism around labeling genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in food caught the eye of pro-GMO corporations and lobby groups.

According to emails and thousands of other pages of documents released in a freedom of information request by U.S. Right to Know (USRTK), a non-profit advocacy group funded by the Organic Consumers Association, these industry forces conspired to think of ways to discredit Parent and counter her message.

“It’s mostly scientists that they attack, but Rachel is a standout,” Gary Ruskin, the co-director of USRTK, told Global News. “The agrichemical industry is plainly quite threatened by this teenage schoolgirl, so that’s why they’re after her.”

Among other things, Global News reports that University of Florida professor Kevin Folta—whom Ruskin describes as “one of the principal attack dogs of the agrichemical industry”—was hired by Monsanto’s public relations firm Ketchum,  to make a video about Parent. Folta has been the recipient of tens of thousands of Monsanto dollars, according to Global News.

Folta is supposed to be an unbiased scientist, but he is not apparently not aware of the growing body of independent research showing likely human health problems linked with GMOs, such as scientist-who-discovered-gmos-cause-tumors-in-rats-wins-landmark-defamation-lawsuit-in-paris–Health Nut News. Nor is the professor aware of studies from the GMO corporations that have been leaked showing health risks, such as the following, Busted: Biotech Leader ‘Syngenta’ Charged Over Covering Up Animal Deaths from GM Corn Read more: http://naturalsociety.com/syngenta-charged-over-covering-up-animal-deaths-gm-corn/#ixzz3wIzkCCEj Follow us: @naturalsociety on Twitter | NaturalSociety on Facebook–Natural Society. There are numerous other studies linking GMOs to health problems that have been reported on all over the Internet, but apparently Professor Folta can’t Google very well. In my mind, that makes him a junk science professor.

According to Global News:

The video discussed Parent’s activism, her belief that all GMO food products should be labeled and addressed her apparent lack of scientific knowledge.

“So when I think about answering Rachel Parent, who’s the activist child—well, young woman—who’s running the website ‘Kids Right to Know’ … The things I just adore about Rachel is that she’s clearly very articulate, clearly intelligent,” Folta said in the video.

“The problem that I have is when Rachel starts to let non-scientific thinking really kind of cloud her final decision-making process.”

Parent said she finds the tone of the video “almost degrading.”

A poll commissioned by a coalition of consumer and environmental groups showed earlier this month that nearly 90 percent of Americans want mandatory labeling on GMO foods.

Scotland’s Minister for the environment, food and Rural Affairs Richard Lochhead “said in a statement on Sunday that Scotland is taking advantage of new European Union rules that allow its member countries to opt out of growing EU-authorized GM crops, including GM-maize (corn) and six other GM crops that are awaiting authorization.”

“Scotland is known around the world for our beautiful natural environment—and banning growing genetically modified crops will protect and further enhance our clean, green status,” Lochhead said. “There is no evidence of significant demand for GM products by Scottish consumers and I am concerned that allowing GM crops to be grown in Scotland would damage our clean and green brand, thereby gambling with the future of our £14 billion food and drink sector.”

Hawaiian protestors are hounding the pesticide/GMO manufacturer Syngenta, all the way to the company’s headquarters in Switzerland, where many of its products are banned due to health concerns, but which are perfectly legal in the United States.

Malia Chun was one of the protestors. “Traveling with a small delegation from her island, Chun came halfway around the world to confront Syngenta as both a mother and a practicing teacher of Native Hawaiian culture. Chun and others in her community suspect the pesticides may be responsible for an uptick in health problems such as asthma and birth defects, including several cases where babies were born with their intestines outside of their bodies. “As far as pesticide exposure goes, it’s most harmful to children, both born and unborn,” Chun said. “‘It’s also a direct desecration of our culture.'”

In the video above, Fox‘s Goldberg admits there are no long-term studies on human beings, but that all independent lab tests involving animals are showing atrocious liver damage, kidney problems, and after just three generations of being fed a GMO diet, hamsters are basically sterile. And those are just a few of the health hazards that independent studies are showing. The hosts of the show point out that the main problem isn’t just that GMOs are not labeled, but that is just the tip of the iceberg. Even if labeling were to occur, it doesn’t change the fact that GMOs are spreading uncontrollably around the world, contaminating non-GM crops and wild plants.

So what gives? The Democratic Party is strong supporter of Monsanto and other manufacturers of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO). The most notable example is President Barack Obama. However, many Republicans in congress also support the industry. This Fox report ends a planned virtual black out by the propaganda news organizations, such as Fox itself, the Wall Street Journal, the Oregonian, the Washington Post and all the other US members of the propaganda network that are erroneously called news organizations. Perhaps the Fox report signifies a breach in the ranks of the 1 percent on this issue. Maybe a member of the 0.05 percent has been denied the opportunity of getting in on the profitable end of the GMO industry. Could this report be their revenge? Who knows?

The important point of this report is that a few more Americans now know that GMOs are poisons, and that the US people are guinea pigs in this not so grand experiment.

On May 19th, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) called on “Physicians to educate their patients, the medical community, and the public to avoid GM (genetically modified) foods when possible and provide educational materials concerning GM foods and health risks.”

They called for an to GM foods, long-term independent studies, and labeling. AAEM’s position paper said, “Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food.” That includes “infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system.” According to the AAEM, “There is more than a casual association between GM foods and adverse health effects. There is causation,” as defined by recognized scientific criteria. “The strength of association and consistency between GM foods and disease is confirmed in several animal studies.”
