Like its conservative brethren, the LA Times, one of Wall Streets liberal bastions of deliberately keeping the masses uninformed and misinformed, reported “This year there was a 23 percent increase in the overall number of people found on the streets countywide (Los Angeles County). For the city, that increase was 20 percent.” Reporter Dennis Romero reports LA rents have increased 32 percent throughout the Los Angeles County since 2000, while incomes have decreased 3 percent, and this accounts for the growing homelessness. This, of course, is total bullshit. See Homelessness Gets Worse as Rents Continue to Increase–LA Times

Romero then goes on to write, “The California Housing Partnership Corporation this month concluded that the county needs an additional 551,807 units for people on the edge of homelessness….The homeless figures make “it very clear that our continuing homeless crisis is being driven by a housing crisis,” L.A. County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl said in a statement.” This statement, too, is total bullshit.

Being a good corporate reporter, Romero does not ask why there is a housing crisis in Los Angeles, as well as across the United States. Nor is he clever enough to ask why wages have gone down and rents have gone up.

Here are the real reasons rents and home prices have skyrocketed over the last several years. I’ll deal with declining wages another day.

The five biggest banks conspired together to drive the cost of rents and houses up by holding over half the stock of vacant houses off the market by 2011. As prices have illegally risen, the banks have slowly allowed more and more houses onto the market. This is called a conspiracy in restraint of trade, which is illegal, but profitable.

This means the price of homes and rents are illegally and artificially higher than they should be. Had the market been allowed to set prices after the Great Recession of 2007-09, it is very likely rents and housing prices would be half or nearly so of what they are now.

In other words, this conspiracy redistributed trillions of dollars of income from the 99 to the 1 percent, and this was done with the permission of the Obama Administration.

The current economic expansion is almost exclusively being powered by the illegally contrived boom in housing prices and rents, and so the latest housing bubble is largely powering the latest stock market bubble, and this is likely why both Obama and Trump have never had any desire to enforce anti-trust laws against the big banks since both are owned lock, stock, and barrel by the big banks. By the way you Hillary lovers! Clinton is completely owned by Wall Street too.

And this is how we are kept misinformed, misled, confused and uninformed by the corporate media.

The US government used the illegal spying on American citizens by the National Security Agency (NSA) to coordinate the attacks by local law enforcement on the Wall Street encampments. President Obama had to have given his okay to this. A new study is out from the Center for Media and Democracy, “Dissent or Terror: How the Nation’s Counter Terrorism Apparatus, in Partnership with Corporate America, Turned on Occupy Wall Street.”

It is highly likely that the US government, with the blessings of Obama, also coordinated the corporate media blitz that smeared the Occupy Wall Street movement, which conveniently and immediately proceeded the government crackdown on constitutionally legal civil dissent. You remember those smears. The occupiers were homeless, drug addicted, thugs, committing petty crimes that focused on the businesses near the Occupy camps. Sure, some of that probably happened, but most of it were outright lies and the editors of these publications knew this, but still reported it as if were everyday facts.

The question is why was there a crackdown against Occupy, why was Occupy viewed as such a threat to national security, and the answer is simple. Occupy thrust the nation’s spotlight on the economic problems of the United States and, especially, the unpunished crimes of Wall Street.

Income had been massively redistributed by government legislation from the 99 to the 1 percent over the last thirty years. The 1 percent currently steal about 32 percent of all the income produced in the USA, compared to roughly 8 percent in 1980. Wealth, which is assets, followed suit. That process continues today. At current rates, the 1 percent should be stealing about 40 percent of the nation’s total income in less than 10 years.

Wall Street’s crimes include massive amounts of fraud, tax evasion, money laundering, and stuff like that. And not a soul on Wall Street has been charged with a crime.

As income has been redistributed over the last thirty-three years to the 1 percent, the 99 percent has less and less money to spend on goods and services. The 1 percent use their money to do things like, buy politicians, buy stocks, buy bonds, rig the housing market so that home prices go up, bid up the prices of goods on the futures markets (which we pay for in the form of inflation, which is another income redistribution scam), and stuff like that. In effect, many of the items purchased by the 1 percent are used to redistribute income from the 99 percent to themselves. These folks are largely parasites, sucking the rest of us financially dry.

Demand is slack because of this situation, so jobs are in short supply, and wage and benefits continue to go down.

Occupy was shining a spotlight on these nasty things. The last thing the Obama administration wanted, especially with its close ties to Wall Street and corporate America, was more and more of the 99 percent paying attention to the Occupy movement. So it acted.

As the NSA and other government agencies illegally picked up information on the movement and the people involved in it, the government coordinated a slimy public relations campaign through the corporate propaganda organs, such as the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and the Oregonian newspaper.

Then local law enforcement struck.

“The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is set to vote to relax a longstanding ban that prevents one company from owning radio and television stations and newspapers in the same city — a move that activists are calling a giant Christmas present to Rupert Murdoch.” Actually, it’s a present to the 1 percent in their war against the middle class. They’ll be more able to launch more vicious propaganda wars so as to influence a greater number of the 99 percent to financially slice their own throats so as to feed Wall Street and the 1 percent their flowing financial blood. The rigged game will be rigged even more. They’ll tell people how free trade treaties are wonderful for them and their country without pointing out the massive maldistribution of income and wealth that has come about because of these treaties, which happen to be unconstitutional since the constitution requires that 2/3 or the Senate vote for treaties and no free trade treaty has even come close to that number.

“Murdoch has floated the idea of buying The Chicago Tribune and The Los Angeles Times, the dominant papers in cities where he already owns TV stations. What’s worse, the FCC is operating behind closed doors, rather than inviting public comment on the issue.”

More media consolidation coming! More propaganda for the 99 percent
