From Elizabeth Swager of Oregon Fair Trade

Dear friends,

The Senate vote today was a tough loss. We’ve seen several victories along the way. We defeated the Camp-Baucus fast track bill last year, and stopped the original Ryan-Hatch-Wyden bill in the House just a little over a week ago. But Republicans and the White House were able to make enough sweetheart deals that cloture for Fast Track passed with a single vote, 60-37.

We have a lot of be proud of here. Our struggle against Fast Track built a movement. Allies from labor, enviros, immigrant rights, access to medicines came together on a common front. We united against the largest most powerful corporate interests in the world, and we came so close. It’s a true testament to your good work and will lay the foundation for the next episode in the battle for people over profits.

As you know, next is stopping the TPP itself. Proponents know there is little time to pass the TPP with the upcoming Presidential campaign cycle and Congressional elections on the way. We have built tremendous momentum in this fight, if we keep it victory is within reach.

Thank you for all your incredible work.

In Solidarity,

Elizabeth Swager

This morning two protestors, John Hively and Ross Wrede, greeted President Obama when he arrived at Nike headquarters to drum up support for his job killing income and political redistribution scam called the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), which is falsely marketed as a free trade agreement. Within a few minutes, another two hundred protestors showed up.

The president, and his Wall Street henchmen like Ron Wyden and Mitch McConnell, are trying to push Fast Track Authority through congress. Fast track will limit debate on the TPP, not allow any amendments, and no filibuster will be allowed.

It appears the president doesn’t have enough support for fast track to pass through congress, and, for some reason, he and his aides thought it would be a good idea to drum up support for his jobs killing scam by visiting Nike, a notorious exporter of American jobs.

About 150 protestors rallied yesterday against the looming Trans-Pacific Partnership, the largest income and political power redistribution scam in US history, which is falsely called an international trade agreement by government plutocrats and corporate hacks. The protestors voiced their disapproval of Fast Track Legislation which might be introduced to congress as early as next week.

Representatives from diverse grass roots organizations converged on the meeting places, which included the Oregon offices of Wall Street Senator Ron Wyden, and Wall Street US House Representatives Earl Blumenauer, Suzanne Bonamici and Kurt Schrader. Labor organizations, religious groups (First Unitarian Church) and environmental groups (Sierra Club), as well as human rights groups, such as Black Lives Matter, sent representatives.

The fast track negotiating authority for trade agreements is the authority of the President of the United States to negotiate international agreements that Congress can approve or disapprove but cannot amend or filibuster. Debate is also limited. Fast track negotiating authority is a temporary and controversial power granted to the President by Congress. The authority was in effect from 1975 to 1994, pursuant to the Trade Act of 1974, and from 2002 to 2007 by the Trade Act of 2002. Although it expired for new agreements on July 1, 2007, it continued to apply to agreements already under negotiation until they were eventually passed into law in 2011. In 2012, the Obama administration began seeking renewal of the authority.

As for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), we know from leaked documents the TPP is a massive income redistribution scam. The TPP has almost nothing to do with international trade. We know that;

* TPP will give incentives for US corporations to export millions of US jobs. The Federal Reserve estimates that 28 million US jobs were exported between 1990 and 2010.

* TPP will increase US income and wealth inequality. The 1 percent have already taken 95 percent of all income growth in the United States since 2009. Currently, the 1 percent are stealing 36+ percent of all income produced in the USA, compared to only 8 percent in 1980. International trade scams and other federal legislation have brought inequality about. For example, when the above jobs were exported, the difference between the old higher US wages and the new lower wages will go straight into the pockets of the 1 percent via higher corporate profits, rising dividends and surging share prices.

* Those lost jobs will no longer be paying the taxes for our infrastructure, K-12 education, higher education (tuition and fees will go up), social safety nets, schools, fire, police, public transportation, social security taxes, but those lost jobs will push the stock markets higher.

* TPP will effectively eliminate your voting rights on local and state issues since it will unconstitutionally grant investors of the 0.01 percent special privileges to challenge labeling and health and safety local laws and regulations of the 99 percent, which most people call voter suppression, but in this case it should be called voter elimination,

* TPP will offer new monopolies for Big Pharma to raise medicine prices they charge you (which redistributes income from the 99 to the 1 percent),

* TPP will limit food safety standards (which redistributes and transforms your health into the profits of the 1 percent),

* TPP will block financial regulations aimed at preventing the next financial crisis (which will make it easier for Wall Street to redistribute your income and wealth to the 1 percent). Bank of America Stands to Gain From This. The bank will be able to steal more money from you with less regulations, which will increase its profits, dividends and share prices, not to mention CEO bonuses. Bank of America is also spending millions of dollars on lobbyists in support of Fast Track and TPP.

* TPP will destroy millions of jobs in Latin America (230,000 in the textile industry of El Salvador alone) forcing millions of undocumented immigrants into the United States.

Yes, believe it or not, Wall Street Senator Ron Wyden supports this massive income and political power redistribution scam, as well as Fast Track, and corporate plutocrats such as Oregon Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici, and Congressmen Earl Blumenauer and Kurt Schrader keep saying they haven’t made up their minds. What a corporate plutocrat shocker!

* The result of the above will be to depress wages in both North and South America, all to the benefit of the 1 percent, and all at the expense of the 99 percent.

* And we can’t forget that TPP will increase the already massive US trade deficit with other nations, which is supposed to be a bad thing. The exported jobs will be producing goods overseas rather than here, and then US corporations will export their products from China and Vietnam into the United States, exacerbating the current trade deficit.

In other words, the TPP has almost nothing to do with trade. It’s about taking away your money, your voting rights, and giving them to the 1 percent.

TPP, in other words, is designed to put more of your money in the hands of the 1 percent, and this money will be used to corrupt government even more while impoverishing you, and redistributing your future and the future of your children to the 1 percent.

You can rest assured, if Fast Track passes, and the TPP passes with it, profits, as well as the tax rebates Bank of America receives, will become greater, and at your expense.

An Alert From Oregon Fair Trade

“This Thursday, Senator Ron Wyden will hold his first trade hearing as the new Senate Finance Chair. His witness is none other than U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman — the cabinet-level official who refuses to tell the American public what his office has been proposing for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) in our names.

Please urge Senator Wyden to use Thursday’s hearing to demand that Ambassador Froman release the TPP texts for public scrutiny.

The TPP has been under negotiation for over four years now. It is said to include some 29-separate chapters, covering everything from labor standards, to food safety, to financial regulations, to medicine patents and more. The pact would cover approximately 40 percent of the global economy, and has built-in mechanisms to expand even further. There’s no doubt that, if passed, the TPP would have profound effects on our economy, jobs, environment and public health for decades to come. (The TPP has been designed to redistribute massive amounts of income from the 99 to the 1 percent)

A pact this large and far-reaching should be developed in the light of day. Instead, Ambassador Froman has decided to negotiate it behind-closed doors. He’s allowed some 600 corporate advisors and a small handful of others access to the texts, but has barred the vast majority of people who will be affected by his proposals from seeing them. He’s made it clear he has no intention of publishing any TPP texts until after the negotiations are completed, the pact is signed and (if Fast Track is approved as he’s requested) even Congress’ ability to amend the text is prohibited.

As recently as this month, Senator Wyden has told constituents he believes they deserve the right to review TPP proposals “in real time.” Please urge Senator Wyden to use his new power as Senate Finance Chair to press Ambassador Froman on this issue.”

Give him a call, and let him know he should stand with the 99 percent, and not his Wall Street buddies. Tell him to oppose the TPP.

These concerned citizens are voicing their displeasure with Wall Street Senator Ron Wyden’s position on Fast Track, which is legislation allowing for a quick, decisive knockout blow to the US middle class by redistributing massive amounts of their income and political power to the senator’s constituents on Wall Street and among the other 1 percent via the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), also known as NAFTA on Steroids. BTW, yours truly is holding the K, and there is no mention of this event or the TPP in the local corporate owned propaganda machine, also know erroneously known as the corporate press. Oregon Fair Trade Campaign and others, such as Alliance for Democracy and labor unions, delivered over 13,000 names on old tech floppy disks to Sen Wyden’s Portland Oregon office. The message boards read FAST TRACK IS A FLOP, but the folks in Wyden’s office would not accept the disks! They claimed it was security issue, even though the disks made it through security checks. Wyden is Wall Street’s point man on the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP). This so-called free trade treaty does a ton of good for Wall Street and publicly traded corporations, and all at the expense of the 99 percent. That’s why this treaty was negotiated in top secrecy, and with only 600 corporate lobbyists allowed to attend and assist the various negotiators. Wyden has a 100 percent record of supporting legislation and treaties that redistribute income and wealth from the 99 to the 1 percent. That’s why Wall Street executives like this treaty, that’s why Nike’s Phil Knight loves this treaty, and that’s precisely why Wall Street and Nike Senator Ron Wyden gushes with joy over this treaty. The TPP is not the only flop for the American people, Ron Wyden is complete flop and failure at representing the people of Oregon year after year after year on economic matters, 100 percent of the time.

Elizabeth Swager, the director of Oregon Fair Trade, is heading to the Portland Oregon office of Wall Street Senator Ron Wyden to deliver over 13,000 signatures on floppy disks opposing legislation called Fast Track, which is something Wall Street and Wyden want. Such legislation will allow a quick yes or no vote on the Trans Pacific Partnership, the largest redistribution of income from the 99 to the 1 percent treaty ever written, mostly by corporate lobbyists, which is why the treaty is the most secretly negotiated treaty in US history. The Obama regime is continuing its plans to redistribute income from the 99 to the 1 percent via the Trans Pacific Partnership.

The Obama regime is continuing its plans to redistribute income from the 99 to the 1 percent via the Trans Pacific Partnership.

A couple of hundred people came together last Saturday December 1 at the Canadian border to launch the counterattack on behalf of the 99 percent against the Obama regime’s latest assault to redistribute income from the 99 to the 1 percent. Obama’s people are negotiating the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), a new free trade income redistribution treaty. It’s the grand daddy of them all, a proverbial “Nafta on steroids.” The treaty is being secretly negotiated by 11 nations around the pacific rim with 600 corporate representatives in on on the negotiations.

Last Saturday, December 1, we met in Blaine Washington with people from Canada, Mexico and the United States. We even had a caller from New Zealand address the crowd. If you love your country, and you want your children to grow up in a better world, fight the treaty. Stop it from becoming law.

More US jobs will be shipped overseas, more income redistributed from the 99 to the 1 percent, environmental standards will be lowered, Internet freedom is at risk, pharmaceutical drug prices are being negotiated upward, the US economy will be further eroded, etc….

50,000 from all over the world are marching on Chicago, 80 more are holed up in lower Manhattan, planning the final stages of their protest tomorrow, others are putting the finishing touches on a planned march and rally in Portland, Oregon. Occupy is not alone; Jobs with Justice, Oregon Fair Trade, and other organizations are planning rallies against government corruption, free trade income redistributing treaties and the massive redistribution of income and wealth from the 99 to the 1 percent that the corrupt federal government has engineered during the last thirty years.

There are numerous ways to resist! One of them is to get involved. For starters, join the fight against free trade treaties.

During 2012, President Obama and the corporate plutocrats in congress have another jobs outsourcing treaty in the pipeline. They call it a trade treaty, but it’s really a jobs exporting, income redistributing treaty. When jobs are exported, the difference between the old wages here and the lower new wages there are given to the rich via higher corporate profits, rising dividends and enhanced share prices. The job losers (that’s us) get uncertain futures. It’s the largest “Jobs Exporting, Income Redistribution Treaty” since NAFTA. This treaty is called the Trans-Pacific Free Trade Treaty by corporate representatives in government, but it will redistribute more income from working people to the rich, which is what it’s real purpose is.

Get involved in your area to help stop this massive income redistribution treaty, whose sole purpose is to impoverish the citizens of the United States, and then take their income and hand it to the rich in the form of higher corporate profits, rising dividends and share prices.

It has to make you wonder. How is it possible that our representatives in congress can possibly imagine that the mass of working people can continue to purchase enough stuff to keep corporate profits moving higher when they intend to redistribute more of our income to the rich. Maybe we’re not important anymore since the Federal Reserve can print trillions of dollars, hand it over to the banks, fix their books to make it look like the banks paid the money back, and then pretend as though nothing happened. The banks can then fix their own books to make it look like they paid the money back, and then funnel it to enhance corporate profits, pushing their dividends and share prices ever higher. The rich, of course, get richer, while we get unemployment and inflation. More on inflation later.
